The Snow Goose, Chen caerulescens, nests on the Arctic tundra in Northern part of Canada. It spends winters in fields and marshes from the mid-Atlantic coast of the US south to Mexico and near the San Francisco Bay, the Gulf of California and the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. In late February and early March each year, thousands gather at the Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in Pennsylvania preparing for the long flight to their nesting grounds. Their activity often begins at sunrise when they begin to move into the surrounding corn fields to feed |
